Bears of Brine crossing the English & Bristol Channels
Eleven Port to Pub swimmers, along with Port to Pub organiser and coach Ceinwen Roberts, will be travelling to England this July — nine to swim across the English Channel and two to cross the Bristol Channel. Some of the swimmers have been waiting years to attempt this feat as Covid thwarted their previous attempts. The group, calling themselves the Bears of Brine, regularly trains and races together, including completing the Port to Pub 25km and 19.7km courses as stepping stones in their preparation.
The Bears have dedicated their efforts to fundraising for the Classroom of Hope charity. Classroom of Hope is working to rebuild more than 200 schools that collapsed in Lombok, Bali, in 2018. The new schools are built using recycled plastics cleaned up from Indonesian waterways and made into earthquake-proof building blocks. Follow Bears of Brine on Instagram to watch their progress and support their efforts by contributing on the Bears of Brine fundraising page.
Best of luck to the swimmers!
