Are all your ducks in a row?
It’s 2016 and the countdown is on to the first history making Hotel Rottnest Port to Pub event.
If you haven’t registered to swim yet, we suggest you get online quickly, as standard pricing ends on 31 January and late fees will apply.
To all those who are no doubt in training, here’s a quick reminder and check list of the key detail to help make your swim as memorable as possible.
Do you qualify?
Crossing the Rottnest Channel is no mean feat so there is a minimum requirement for all participants. Find out more here. Make sure you enter the link to your qualifying swim into your registration form.
Are your registration details up to date?
You have until 04 March 2016 to register and make any changes to your registration. You will have received an email from blueChip Timing confirming your registration. That email contains a unique username and password you can use to log back into your registration form and make any changes.
Do you have good support?
Support vessels must be 5-10 metres in length and tenders must be greater than 3.75 metres. Competitors using a support boat and tender must register both vessels to travel more than 5 nautical miles offshore. Tenders must have all safety equipment on board .
For solo swimmers, support vessels are only permitted to support one swimmer.
Are you entering as an ‘assisted swimmer’?
You can swim in all categories except the 25 km solo as an ‘assisted’ swimmer, where a wetsuit may be worn.
- Wetsuits must be no thicker than 5mm
- All of the components of the wetsuit must fit the swimmers body tightly;
- Artificial propulsion devices are not to be used
- Flotation devices are not to be used
- Gloves or socks (including but not limited to compression socks) are not to be worn
- If only one team member wears a wetsuit, the team is still categorised as ASSISTED.
- Solo swimmers that swim with a wetsuit will be recorded in the ASSISTED SOLO category.
- ASSISTED swimmers will not be competing against UNASSISTED for records.
