Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club
Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club (FMSLSC) has always been a keen supporter of long distance swimming, especially for the youth group. Many of our youth swimmers have challenged themselves from when they were 10 years old by completing the annual FMSLSC 1,600km long distance club swim along with many other of our club members. It was from this starting point and the weekly Sunday morning clear view of Rottnest Island to our west that has inspired 30 FMSLSC young members to join together into 5 FMSLSC youth teams of 6 to target completing the Port to Pub event this year. Three of the teams are made up of 13 and 14-year olds, who have certainly built a strong surf club comradery and love of the ocean.
In the tradition of naming FMSLSC patrolling teams, the youth FMSLSC Port to Pub team names have been inspired by fun characters from the movie “Nemo”. It just seemed appropriate to carry on this tradition of incorporating fun, fish and the ocean from a positive movie about team work and making long term friends.
Club swimming captain, Tracey Shaw will also be completing a duo swim, making it 6 teams from FMSLSC.
Look out for all the club’s Port to Pub teams all swimming on Saturday!
