Swim for your Coast!
Have you considered using your swim to support a great cause? One worthy recipient that is close to the hearts of Hotel Rottnest Port to Pub is Coastcare.
Make your swim count and help protect the Western Australian coastline!
As a keen swimmer, you’d be aware of how important protecting our coastlines is to your enjoyment of the ocean as well as your health. Protected coastlines ensure the future of fragile marine environments, it safeguards erosion of sand dunes and coastal vegetation, and it guarantees that future of clean beaches and coastal habitats so that they may be enjoyed by future generations.
As an island nation, our recreational spaces and livelihoods would be at risk if we sat back and did nothing about protecting our coasts and marine environments.
As you take part in this year’s Hotel Rottness Port to Pub event, we ask that you consider making your swim count by supporting Coastcare through sponsorship.
Coastcare groups have worked endlessly for decades to protect and preserve our coasts to achieve a more robust and diverse ecosystem for our coastlines.
Meet Sue Freeth – 20 years volunteering for Cottesloe Coastcare and passionate about her local coast!
“Cottesloe Coast has been subjected to enormous pressure for more than 100 years. In 1995, a small group of locals realised that leaving it to “others” to protect and preserve our coast wasn’t enough and joined together to achieve a more robust and diverse ecosystem for the Cottesloe foreshore.”
In Western Australia, we are lucky to be living in an area where nature still can be part of our everyday lives. We want to make sure that our local Western Australian coast survives so that everyone can experience the special birds, plants and animals that live here now and for the future.
