Jarrod Poort to race in Port to Pub 25km!
Many of you will be very excited – maybe a little nervous – to hear you’ll be swimming alongside open water swimming champion and dual Olympian Jarrod Poort next March.
22-year-old Jarrod has signed up to compete in the 25 km ultra-marathon and is back into full training to prepare himself for the tough event. He’ll be sponsored by Subiaco Sports Massage Clinic.
The dual Olympian, who is currently Australia’s best open water swimmer, made worldwide headlines at the 2016 Olympics for taking a significant lead in the 10km open water race for one hour and 39 minutes before other swimmers caught up.
Jarrod’s performance at the Olympics was inspirational and we’re excited that he’s going to be part of the event. He’s only swum in WA a few times and has never ‘crossed the Channel’, so he’s up for brand new challenge!
We can’t wait to have him compete in the Port to Pub, and to show him around beautiful Perth and Rottnest Island.
We hope you’re staying on track with your training. It’s hard at this time of year to stay focused. Just refer back to our five-week training program and read below for tips on how to stay on top of your training, health and fitness this festive period! We’ll be providing you with a new training program in the new year to see you through to the Port to Pub.
From all of us at Port to Pub, we wish you a safe and happy Christmas!
