Nutritional Advice with David Bryant
NURITION ADVICE with David Bryant, Sports Dietitian, Catalyst Dietitian
Last year, my first nutrition tip was that 'you cannot out train a bad diet', so who remembers the alarming statistic I mentioned that just 4% of Australia achieve the recommended 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables each day?
That's right just 1/20 Aussies are getting the required amount each day to act as your number 1 satisfier across the day and vitamin/mineral top up!
So, my challenge to you, before we get into the nitty gritty of sports nutrition to see you swimming over to Rottnest, is to look at ways you can add more fruit and veg into your day. Not just dinner but across the entire day.
Think sliced fruit on your cereal, a tomato bruschetta on your toast for breakfast or a big serve of veg/salad with your lunch (not just a slice of tomato and lettuce leaf..PLEASE!).
You'll feel fuller for longer across the day and strengthen your immune system in order to handle the training load were about to be faced with in prep for Rotto.
Bring it on. Just keep swimming.
